Symposium
The 8th Dental Implant Symposium will feature presentations from Drs. Jay Beagle, Ed
McGlumphy and John Muse. Their topics include the latest surgical advances for dental
implant therapy, prosthetic solutions for dental implants: abutment management, digital
technologies for implant diagnosis and therapy, and guided surgical techniques.
Who will benefit from attending?
Specialists, general dentists, and all members of the dental team interested in gaining a

Immediate Loading of Dental Implant Training and Demonstration
November 12 – 14
This 2.5-day course will begin Thursday afternoon with lecture. Friday will be
spent at the Symposium and on Saturday participants will observe live implant
surgeries. This course will allow you to directly observe patient
surgical and restorative procedures with Dr. Lyndon Cooper.
Detailed case reviews will be used to reinforce patient selection,
treatment planning, step-wise procedures, and problem solving.
Careful attention to your questions will be assured in this
live surgery demonstration course by a low student/
faculty ratio. Attendance is limited to the first 30

About the Speakers
Dr. Jay Beagle is a periodontist specializing in periodontal plastic
and reconstructive surgery and dental implant surgery. A dedicated
clinician with more than two decades of periodontal and dental
implant experience, Dr. Beagle is one of the country’s most
respected surgeons. As an educator, Dr. Beagle lectures nationally
and internationally, and continues to pioneer, refine, and teach
surgical techniques to remain at the forefront of periodontal esthetic
and implant dentistry research and development. He maintains a private practice in
Indianapolis, Indiana, and has placed thousands of implants since 1994. Dr. Beagle is
a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), and a leader in the dental
implant field. Trained at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, Dr. Beagle received
his Periodontal Certificate and Masters Degree from the University of Kentucky. He is a
Fellow of the International College of Dentists.
Dr. Ed McGlumphy graduated from The Ohio State College of
Dentistry and completed a general practice residency at the University
of Texas-San Antonio. He returned to Ohio State for prosthodontic
training and received a master’s degree in 1988. Since that time, he
has been a full time prosthodontic faculty member at The Ohio State
University responsible for all aspects of predoctoral and postdoctoral
implant education. He has also served as principal investigator for
multiple studies on implant component physical properties and prospective implant
clinical trials. This work has led to over seventy-five publications and $5.2 million in
extramural funding. He has been a reviewer for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and
the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants. He has a private practice limited to
implant prosthodontics and lectures internationally in the field of implant dentistry.
Dr. John Muse received his dental degree from Emory University
School of Dentistry. After dental school, Dr. Muse joined the United
States Army and completed a one-year general dentistry practice
residency at Fort Riley, Kansas. He then served as a General Dental
Officer for five years in Germany and in the United States. Dr. Muse
then completed his surgical residency training at Eisenhower Army
Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. After completing his residency
program, Dr. Muse was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as Chief of Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgery at Darmall Army Hospital. He also served as Chief of Oral
Surgery for the Two-Year General Practice Residency Program. Dr. Muse left the Army in
1999 and bought Dr. Perry Brickman’s practice in June of 2000. Dr. Muse has a special
interest in dental implant surgery and he has spoken both nationally and internationally
on this subject. Dr. Muse is Board Certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a
Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Time & Location
The symposium on Friday will be held at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing
Education. Registration will begin at 8:30am. The program will be held from 9:00am -
4:30pm. The Friday Center is located on Friday Center Drive just off Highway 54 on the
east side of Chapel Hill. A continental breakfast and buffet lunch will be provided with your
paid registration.
Registration Fee and Credit
The symposium registration fee is $265 for dentists and $165 for team members. The
symposium will award 6 hours of CDE credit.
Refund Policy
Since considerable advance planning is necessary for these continuing education programs,
a tuition refund, less a $30 fee, will be issued for cancellation up to 7 days prior to the start
date of the course. The cancellation fee is necessary to cover materials and facilities costs
incurred for each participant, which are non-refundable to us. No refunds can be issued after
November 6, 2009.
