This course is designed to give clinicians the confidence to
perform soft tissue grafts, appropriate flap design for full and partial
thickness flaps, suturing and advanced bone grafting procedures
upon returning to their offices.
Our structure is a combination of
in-depth lecture, over the shoulder
demonstration and a hands-on
workshop with models and fresh
frozen cadaver heads on
advanced bone grafting for
implant placement. One of the unique features of our course is
that we provide panoramic radiographs of every cadaver head to
simulate a realistic learning experience. This is the closest thing to
performing live surgery!

     Each participant will receive
a comprehensive manual which
compiles Powerpoint slides from
the lecture, as well as current literature
covering specific surgical
procedures. This makes following
the lecture more enjoyable
than having to take detailed
notes, and provides an excellent
reference back in the office after
the course. Each participant will
also receive a personalized
monogrammed scrub as well as
a soft sided attaché.

After completing this course the clinician should be able to
treatment plan dental implants
based on prosthetic classifications,
divisions of available bone
and classifications of bone density.
The surgeon will be able to
provide appropriate manipulation
and grafting of the soft tissues.
Finally, the implant surgeon will
have a more thorough understanding
of advanced bone grafting
procedures which will ultimately
improve implant success,
longevity and esthetics for their
patients.

This course offers a unique educational opportunity featuring a proven cirriculum taught by the world’s premiere implant educators. Through lectures, workshops, and one-on-one mentoring, participants learn the following skills

Implant surgircal placement and restoration

Associated bone preservation and ridge augmentation grafting

Connective tissue grafting (including coronally repositioned soft tissue grafting)

The Continuum spans a nine month period with a three-day session (Friday-Sunday) each month giving participants an ample opportunity to assimilate and apply techniques as they are learned. Our goal is to have every doctor place an implant in their own patient either in their own office or at our facility under the guidance of our staff. Included in the Continuum is an 18-hour sedation course that satisfies the requirements for certification in North Carolina and many other states.

This implant continuum spans a nine-month period with a two-day weekend lecture session each month, giving participants ample opportunity to assimilate and apply techniques as they are learned. Additional Friday sessions each month focus on implementation and integrations of new material; case preparation, diagnosis, and work-up of the doctor’s own patients; and lectures by our staff on step-by-step procedures for implant placement. Our goal is to have every doctor place an implant in their own patient either in their own practice or at out facility under guidance of our staff.

Beginning at 10:00am each Friday, technique labs include live sugeries, lectures discussing the techniques and rationale in the surgeries, and hands-on workshops. Forty-plus hours of hands-on workshops enable participants to visualize intricacies of lecture materials. Participants gain a thorough knowledge of cutting-edge techniques through this process of watching, listening and participating.

Hands-on Workshops Include:

occlusion techniques in implantology

implant placement on sawdust jaws

3-D imaging manipulation on the computer

surgical guide fabrication on models of your own patients preparatory for implant placement

suturing techniques on pig jaws

surgical flaps design and manipulation on pig jaws sawdust jaws and later on pig jaws

soft tissue grafting on pig jaws

staff education operatory set-up, patient presentation skills, setup of implant armamentarium

Each Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, featured speakers provide in-depth information in their particular areas of expertise (see Course Schedule, pp.4-8). Throughout the course, representatives from the major implant systems, speciality instrument manufacturers and grafting material suppliers will be available to ensure that the participants gain a broad understanding of the products and techniques from which to choose.

Since successful implant surgery is dependant upon your entire team’s involvement, the November session offers an opportunity to include your staff. The goals for this session include incorporating implant surgery into your existing dental practice and providing your staff wiht the skills and confidence they need to assist your work. As a group, you’ll view live surgeries and hear lectures on case presentation, office organization and implant maintenance. In special break-out sessions, staff will learn how to set up specialized equipment and how to effectively assist throughout the entire implant process.
